A yellow weather warning which was issued by the Met Office yesterday remains in place today.

The warning was issued as heavy rain was expected to batter the Capital.

The yellow warning comes in to place at 1pm on Tuesday afternoon (August 18) and is expected to remain in place until 9pm.

The Met Office warned that heavy showers in Scotland could give difficult travelling conditions and localised flooding.

Yesterday, drivers in Edinburgh were disrupted due to the rainy weather which caused flooding on Slateford Road.

The Met Office has warned that the follow can be expected:

- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings along with fast flowing or deep floodwater

- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

- Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services and there is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses

- There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
