Edinburgh weekend weather: Capital to bask in long spells of sunshine but freezing temperatures to bring frost

The weekend weather forecast for Edinbrugh brings with it some good news and some not so good news.

The good news is that from Friday to Sunday there is NO rain forecast by experts at the Met Office.

The not so good news is that the temperature is also set to plummet to freezing, making for a crisp winter weekend.

Friday

It will be sunny throughout the day, from 9am to 4pm.

Temperatures are set to hit highs of just 3 °C in mid-afternoon and lows of -3 °C. It will return to freezing around 7pm.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A fine dry day with long spells of unbroken sunshine. A cold day with frost early and late."

Saturday

Again, Edinburgh is set for another day of wall-to-wall sunshine, from 9am to 6pm.

However, we will only see highs of around 2 °C and lows of -2 °C, with temperatures reaching freezing at the much earlier time of 3pm.

Sunday

Sunday is to be the best day of the weekend temperatures hitting a high of 4 °C and the lowest we will feel being 0 °C.

Again, much like Friday and Saturday, it will be sunny all day with no early signs of rain or snow.

A Met Office spokesperson said about the weekend weather: "A dry weekend with some long clear or sunny spells. It will be cold with widespread frosts. Monday turning cloudier, perhaps some rain later."
