West Lothian aims to keep locals posted this winter

WEST Lothian Council has launched a new e-mail information service.

The e-mail alert service aims to provide residents and businesses with regular updates on the council’s response, including service changes, to unusual events such as severe weather.

Council leader Peter Johnston said: “Last winter’s exceptionally heavy and prolonged snow was widely acknowledged as one of the worst in 100 years.

“We understand that residents want to know what is happening, and the council has a key role in keeping everyone informed.

“Last year, we were contacted by many people who asked us if they could receive information via e-mail.

“In response to this, we are launching a new e-mail alert service, which will provide regular briefings on the council’s response to important events, such as severe weather.

“We know that not everyone has access to a computer so we are also publishing a four-page supplement wrapped around the council newspaper Bulletin, which is distributed in November, and we are asking householders to keep it handy, as it will provide information on the council’s plans for dealing with a similar event this year.”
