A Lotto jackpot winner in West Lothian has missed out on their £350,000 prize after failing to claim it in time.
The mystery winner scooped the top prize in the Lotto HotPicks draw on 3 February, but failed to come forward before the deadline at midnight on Thursday.
National Lottery operator Camelot UK revealed that the ticket was purchased in the West Lothian area.
As the deadline has now passed the money, plus the interest it earned, has now gone to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
Of the nearly 1,000 West Lothian beneficiaries to have received National Lottery funding, one - Lothian Disability Badminton Club - has received a total of £13,748 with the aim of promoting the welfare of all people with a disability through participation in the sport of disability badminton.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money. To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis.
“We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out.”
With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.
Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050.
