The leisure facilities at Wester Hailes High School closed last spring for refurbishment
Leisure facilities at Wester Hailes High School are set to reopen to the public in the coming days following a closure lasting almost 18 months.
Edinburgh Leisure has announced that the swimming pool and fitness facilities at the venue are set to fully reopen on Tuesday, September 1.
The facilities underwent refurbishment after closing to the public on March 31, 2025.

The swimming pool, which has been fully closed to the public since this date, has been completely refurbished with new lane swimming, diving and family sessions on offer.
There have also been updates to the changing rooms, as well as a Changing Places facility and state-of-the-art pool pod to support easy entry to the water also added.
Daytime access is also now available to the fitness suite, which includes 30 cardio and resistance workout stations. An expanded programme of classes will also be on offer.
David McGlade, head of operations (schools) at Edinburgh Leisure, said: "We're delighted to welcome the community back to a modern, accessible leisure facility in the heart of Wester Hailes.

“The investment has created brighter activity spaces, upgraded changing accommodation and a wider range of opportunities for people to be active close to home.
“Alongside our gym, swimming and fitness offer, we're particularly excited to expand our Active Communities programme, helping people of all ages overcome barriers to being active and supporting healthier, more active lives.
“We look forward to welcoming local residents, clubs and community groups back through the doors and seeing the facility become a valued community hub once again."
To mark the reopening of the Wester Hailes leisure facilities, Edinburgh Leisure is running an offer to pick up a membership with no additional joining fee. The offer will run from September 1 until September 30.

Edinburgh Leisure said that the refurbishment is part of City of Edinburgh Council’s investment in the community campus, adding that the needs of local residents were “at the heart of the redevelopment”.
Phased work also continues on the project to build a new school building next door to the leisure facilities. The redevelopment of Wester Hailes High School is scheduled to be completed in autumn 2026.
Cllr James Dalgleish, education, children and families convener, said: “It is fantastic to see the opening of this new facility that will provide more opportunities for the local community to be active and try new sports.
"This state-of-the-art leisure centre is not just for the school, but for the whole community to use and enjoy. It will open seven days a week, with a modern gym, swimming pool and range of sport classes, Wester Hailes Leisure Centre will make keeping active and developing new skills easier than ever."
