Rush hour strain was added to by the horrific conditions that swept across the Lothians with many commuters and even public transport struggling to cope.
The good news it that if forecasts are to be believe there will be some respite for the Capital that may give gritters and public authorities time to prepare for the next batch of winter weather.
Despite this, more snow is on the way.

Hide AdA yellow warning for snow has been issued between 6pm on Wednesday 17th and 09:00 on Thursday 18th, with a yellow snow warning issued for snow and ice from Thursday 18th and Friday 19th from the early hours until 11:55pm.
Snow is not expected in Edinburgh until the early hours of Thursday morning.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow between Wednesday at 6pm lasting until 9am on Thursday morning.
Snow showers are expected during Wednesday evening before a spell of more persistent aheavy snow develops across the Lothians. Snow showers are to be expected and travel delays are possible on roads with a risk that some vehicles and passengers could become stranded.
