Woman on drugs charge

A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with attempting to smuggle cocaine into the UK at Edinburgh Airport.

Dawn Sylla, from Lancashire, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday following her arrest on Monday.

It is alleged that Border Force officers found a “substantial” amount of the class A drug concealed in luggage when she arrived on a flight from Brussels on Monday afternoon.

Sylla, 54, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. The case is expected to be called again on March 12.

Meanwhile, another woman has been charged with attempting to smuggle cocaine into the UK at the airport after arriving on a flight from Brussels on Tuesday.

She was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
