Alcohol-free Guinness will soon be hitting supermarket shelves

Guinness is set to release a new non-alcoholic beer that’s been four years in the making.

The alcohol-free stout promises to deliver the same distinct character and taste of Guinness.

Alcohol ‘gently removed’

The stout is brewed at St James’s Gate, the home of Guinness, and is made using the same ingredients as the original product.

Containing water, barley, hops and yeast, the alcohol is “gently removed” via a cold filtration process to make it a 0.0% ABV beer. The cold filtration process allows the alcohol to be filtered out whilst protecting the integrity of its taste and character.

The result, Guinness producer Diageo said, is “unmistakably Guinness, just without the alcohol.”

When put to the test by an independent panel, the taste was lauded as “outstanding.”

When can I try it?

The non-alcoholic Guinness will be available in shops, supermarkets and off licences across the UK from 26 October, and will be launching in a four pack of 440ml cans. The drink will be hitting pubs next spring.

Guinness global brand director, Gráinne Wafer, said, “This is an exceptional day for Guinness, as we finally reveal Guinness 0.0.

“We know people want to be able to enjoy a Guinness when they choose not to drink alcohol without compromising on taste, and with Guinness 0.0 we believe they will be able to do exactly that."
