From Harry Potter stories on the motorway to rainy afternoons at the campsite, this compact audio player quickly proved its worth.
We went camping over the bank holiday, and one of the things I was most pleased I had packed was my son's Yoto Mini.
With a five-hour car journey to get there and six hours to get home, I knew we would need plenty to keep him occupied. The weather wasn't kind to us either, with heavy rain putting a stop to his usual bike rides and leaving us looking for ways to keep him entertained at the campsite.
We took the Yoto Mini + Harry Potter Bundle, which includes Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. These quickly became a favourite during the car journeys, giving him something to listen to while we still had miles ahead of us.
It also became part of our evening routine. Once we were settling down for the night, he could listen to his stories while getting ready for bed, without needing to turn on a screen.
That is what I particularly like about the Yoto Mini. It provides entertainment without adding another screen into the mix. For travelling, holidays and those inevitably wet British afternoons, it has proved to be a really useful alternative.
The latest Yoto Mini also has a new battery offering up to 14 hours of play per charge, which makes it ideal for long journeys. I didn't need to think about charging it throughout the weekend, while its ad-free listening meant his stories could play without interruptions. We also have the Card Case, which gives him somewhere to keep his collection.
The Yoto Mini has become one of those products I recommend to all my mum friends. It is compact, simple to use and gives kids something engaging to listen to.For us, it turned out to be particularly useful on a weekend when we spent so much time indoors and trying to stay dry.
