Tuko: shopping made easy in Edinburgh
Working from home has made lunchtime browsing a thing of the past, while many people are still trying to restrict their mixing with other people as the pandemic continues.
Help is at hand. The new Tuko Super App – available on Android from the Google Play store and on iOS from the Apple App store is an all-inclusive app where users can shop for virtually any of their on-demand needs, right there in just a few touches of a button.
Hire a taxi, shop for groceries, order food online, get your stuff couriered, move anything within the city, get a small parcel collected or delivered, pick up and drop off groceries, send collect items for repair – it’s all covered in just one app. And if it’s not taxi or delivery you’re after, they have virtually anything else you can think of, from finding an emergency electrician or plumber, a mobile car wash, dog walker, hair stylist, cleaner or even a lawyer!
“This is a new concept; it has never been done here first of its kind in Europe,” says Dr Climate Wiseman, who owns the Tuko business. “There are more than 65 services we offer, all from one app.
“This app will change the way you live. With our personal shopper or on-demand runner service, you enter your list of things into the app, and your personal shopper will visit the store/s on your behalf, tell you the prices of all the items you want, and then all you have to do is approve the purchase and we will deliver it to your door. And this is all done from within the app!
“In most cases, we’re hoping to be able to do that within 60 minutes or less.”
Track your deliveries
The Tuko Super App uses local service providers to make this happen, coupled with the latest mobile app technology. You simply log into the app using your social media credentials, choose the service you require, make your payment, and track your delivery or your provider while they are on their way to you.
“Everything has an app these days,” says Dr Climate. “But this app is all-in-one – it brings everything together.
“People are now quite used to having their food delivered with an app, but what if you and your partner, or your child or your friends have different tastes? Perhaps you want to eat pizza and they want Chinese food. With other apps, that’s two orders you have to place, but with our app, it’s just one. It makes everything so much easier.”
Indeed, it makes everything so much easier at a time when life has been harder on everyone. With that in mind, Climate and his team have major aspirations of making the Tuko Super App an opportunity for jobs to be created, especially in the Edinburgh area in which he now lives.
“We are very proud that this is starting in Edinburgh,” Dr Climate states. “We want this app to really help the community, not only to help people with their day-to-day lives, but also to create business and increase job opportunities for local people making life easy.
“We believe that the app can make a difference to the quality of life of some people in more ways than just the convenience of buying goods. I see this as a big opportunity for the community.”
