The Capital’s most famous street can often seem deserted nowadays, but what did it used to look like?

Edinburgh’s Princes Street has changed a lot in recent years, and a lot of the iconic shops which could be found there in the 1990s and 2000s have since left.

Shops which were popular on the street in the 1990’s and early 2000s, including Burberry, Bargain Books and the Virgin Megastore, have since closed.

This is likely in part due to the arrival of the nearby St James Quarter which has led locals and tourists alike to do their shopping elsewhere
