Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app – a must for Edinburgh Festival season
Visitors can use this free arts and culture app to get easily accessible – and easily digestible – information on exhibits, paintings, artworks from arts and cultural organisations in Edinburgh.
It’s called Bloomberg Connects and it offers dynamic content exclusive to hundreds of cultural institutions around the globe. The free app provides a range of features including video, audio, and text; expert commentary; and way-finding maps.
Free to use
Because the app was created by Bloomberg Philanthropies as part of its arts programme, it is completely free and available in over 40 languages which makes it ideal for places which attract a lot of overseas visitors – such as the thousands of tourists who flock to Edinburgh, particularly during the festival season.
Onsite, the free app turns a user’s mobile phone into a touchless experience and a centralised place for essential information. Offsite, it allows users to explore institutions from anywhere, providing access to collections, curators, artists, and artwork.
Use it in Edinburgh
This summer the app has been expanded to include cultural institutions in the capital including over 14 major art institutions and festivals in Edinburgh such as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Edinburgh Art Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Jupiter Artland, and Fruitmarket.
It is the ‘official storyteller’ for Edinburgh Festival Fringe – an exclusive guide sharing the history and stories of the festival including the Fringe stories of Robin Williams, Billy Connolly, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. (You can read more about that here).
