Indulge in affordable luxury at new Indian restaurant in Edinburgh – Celestia joins Cilantro in the city

The same visionary behind the Leith’s award-winning Cilantro Indian restaurant, has created a sister restaurant in the historic centre of the city, which opened just after Easter.
Celestia is a newly-renovated, bespoke designed dining experience, whose style marries Edinburgh’s historic architecture with contemporary furnishings and fashion. And it has a menu to match with an Anglo-Asian fusion serving up crowd-pleasing favourites with dishes unique to this new kid on the Stockbridge block.
The area is already fashionable among foodies with its eclectic mix of fine dining and bar and café culture.

Affordable luxury
Designed to be perfect for an intimate date night, a convivial evening with friends and a place for a family to get together, Celestia offers discerning diners some affordable luxury. It’s a reason to dress up and enjoy the highlife, without breaking the bank.
As well as the a-la-carte menu, it will also be offering taster menus, set around £65-£75 a head, with the offer of drinks pairings so you can sample exquisite wines to match your food choices.
There are 50-60s covers across two floors, and there is a private dining area available for hosting small parties for special occasions or entertaining.
Each table is made from specially chosen Spanish marble and you be seated in luxurious aqua-green velvet chairs, and there’s a stunning showcase bar.

Luxury on a plate
The same attention to detail has gone into the menu, which will offer seasonal dishes celebrating Edinburgh’s finest ingredients in a unique blend of Anglo-Asian cuisine.
Alongside more familiar classic vegetable samosa, butter chicken and lamb rogan josh are more unusual finds.
For starters how about ghee roasted paneer, or potato khubani tiki chat (sweet cumin tempered potato, stuffed with apricot served with chickpeas and trio sauce) avocado humas with crunchy bhel (mashed avocado, puffed rice and spicy savoury with sweet and sour sauce.)
Fish dishes include grilled balchao salmon (fresh Scottish salmon marinated with chilli, cinnamon, roasted shrimp and garlic) and amritsari ajwain (fish gram flour battered, deep fried fish fillet, tossed with carom seed).
There are tandoori and grilled dishes and a wide choice of traditional and contemporary mains, along with vegetarian and vegan options.
