Arun Pillai shines for Carlton in Scottish Cup

Arun Pillai took three wickets and hit an unbeaten half century wickets as Carlton coasted to a Citylets Scottish Cup round one win at Prestwick yesterday.

At the Henry Thow Oval the home side batted first, but were soon in trouble thanks to some fine Carlton bowling.

Spinner Pillai led the way with 3-13 while young Calum Everett continued his great start to the summer with 3-14 as Prestwick were 84 all out.

Pillai and Kyle Macpherson then opened the batting in Carlton’s reply and the former made a 50 and the latter 27 not out to see them home by 10 wickets in the 16th over.

Grange, last season’s losing finalists, were in ruthless form against Watsonians in Stockbridge, winning by 268-runs.

Heriot’s, the 2012 champions, were away at Poloc and progressed with a three wicket win.
