Badminton: Cooper shares top Scot prize

Edinburgh badminton star Jillie Cooper missed out on the finals but still had reason to celebrate at the Scottish
International Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old reached the semi-finals of the women’s doubles with Bothwell teenager Kirsty Gilmour and they were rewarded with the Robert
McCoig Quaich for the best Scottish performance.

On Saturday, they lost 21-19, 21-9 to Japan’s Naoko Fukuman and Kurumi Yonao and Cooper said: “That’s the fifth semi-final [defeat] in the past four years. But it has been a good Championship.”
