Bairns put to bed early by West Lothian

West Lothian IBC stamped their authority on Section A of the indoor bowls Premier League as they found their best form to score a commanding victory over chief rivals Falkirk at Livingston.

Both teams came into the match with a 100 per cent record after three games but defending champions West Lothian won on all four rinks skipped by Neil Speirs, Mark Allison, Calum Logan and captain Thomas Mann.

The home team dominated the first seven-end phase 32-22, won the second 27-22, and took the third 36-18. Speirs skipped Bryan Cooper, Stuart Johnston and Des Hagart into a 23-14 lead after 19 ends but iced the cake further with a magnificent 7 at the 20th to set up a 32-15 win over J McHutchison.

Allison carded a mighty 5 at the seventh to skip Paul Lynas, Raymond Logan and Jamie Gracie to a 23-16 victory against Steven Glen.

Logan had dashed south from an exhausting but successful morning in Perth, having won the Champion of Champions title to skip David Wilson Snr, Blair Mackie and George 
Sneddon to a 20-13 win over Simon Thomson, who had former WL star Ricky Forrest as his third.

Mann skipped Cameron Greer, Ian Drysdale and James Speirs into a 15-11 lead but came under pressure at 16-16 before carding a 4 at the last to beat Tom Cochrane 20-16 in 18 ends.

A Section standings: West Lothian 8 Falkirk 6, Midlothian 4 Bainfield 4, East Lothian 2, Coatbridge 0.

n BALBARDIE IBC inflicted a first defeat on Division 1D leaders Stirling 102-61 in their top-of-the table clash at Bathgate. The Bathgate club shares top place on six points with Cumbernauld and Stirling but leads the way on shots with a bank of 135 to 103 and 43.
