Basketball: Big shots will be tested as Kings travel to Troon

Potentially the top four teams in this season’s Scottish Men’s League are involved in two fascinating clashes tonight as St Mirren, still with only one league game under their belts, host Falkirk Fury at the Lagoon Centre and Troon Tornadoes take on Edinburgh Kings at Ayr’s Citadel Centre.

Without some players, Troon beat a similarly burdened Boroughmuir Blaze at St Thomas’s last weekend but are setting no great store by that and Kings should extend their winning streak to four.

Glasgow University, due back today from a Canadian tour, host Glasgow Rocks tomorrow and Dunfermline Reign, narrow away winners over Rocks last weekend, have a chance to score a rare two-in-a row at home to Stirling Knights.

Blaze, meanwhile, tackle Storm in Glasgow, a difficult task given the Capital side’s current scarce playing resources.

The junior scene is much brighter looking for Blaze who last Saturday beat Troon at home while Kings were going down heavily to Tayside Musketeers at Portobello.

But Blaze will now face a reality check tomorrow when they travel to Arbroath to meet the Muskies while Kings take the road to Troon.
