Basketball: Polonia Phoenix show mercy to Saints

Polonia Phoenix have agreed to replay their Scottish Women's Basketball League home game against St Mirren, which was postponed last weekend as St Mirren were forced to call off citing a shortage of players.

Under league rules, Polonia would have been entitled to claim the points for a victory in the game, down to be decided at Holyrood High on Saturday afternoon.

But club secretary Julie Ritchie commendably said: “We’d rather play the game and we’ll try to get it fitted in somewhere.”

Polonia’s next league game is against Falkirk Fury on Thursday, January 21, at home.
