Bowls: Leitch chasing a Scottish double indoors

Balbardie IBC ladies’ champion Sharon Leitch is doubly engaged in the final stages of the joint Scottish Championship being played at Falkirk this weekend with her number one target being the blue riband Singles title.

Leitch has twice captured the National 4 Bowl Pairs title playing lead to her Balbardie colleague Lorraine Malloy and that partnership is together once again at Falkirk but, on this occasion, their ambition is to land the 2 Bowl version of the Pairs Championship. Leitch has much to do to bring the coveted Singles title back to Bathgate as her semi-final challenge couldn’t come any tougher than five-time Scottish champion Julie Forrest of Teviotdale. The other semi-final features Ann Bernard of Abbeyview, Dunfermline, against Michelle Cooper of Ardrossan who has won three Junior
Singles titles.

Leitch faces Forrest on the 3pm session on Saturday but, prior to that, takes to the carpet at 10am with Malloy to tackle Alison Gillies and Isobel Laing of Elgin in the 2 Bowl Pairs.
