Boxing: McCallum aims to end injury hell

EDINBURGH boxer John McCallum is aiming to end ten months of injury hell when lines up on Saturday night’s ‘Homecoming’ bill at Meadowbank Stadium.

Welterweight McCallum, from Newington, suffered a nightmare 2011 after suffering both a broken hand and ankle. He hopes to put all that behind him this weekend on the AAA Promotions bill which also features fellow Capital stars Craig McEwan, Kenny Anderson and Alex Arthur among others

McCallum, who faces London-based South African Bheki Moyo, said: “I was gutted my injuries led to me missing out on some major competitions which could have propelled my professional career. But I’ve fully recovered and I’m feeling stronger than ever and can’t wait for the year ahead.” McCallum’s preparations have been lifted by a sponsorship deal with the Korean Physiotherapy Centre, whose free treatment has helped the undefeated 23-year-old prepare for this weekend’s action.
