Hastie happy to accept lightweight re-match with Ancliff

Gilmerton boxer Jason Hastie has confirmed he’ll “grab with both hands” an offer to fight Aberdonian James Ancliff for the Scottish lightweight title on December 11.

Promoter Alex Morrison’s proposal would also hand Hastie the chance to gain revenge for a Scottish featherweight title defeat in Glasgow in January.

Hastie said: “I’m really up for the offer to fight Ancliff. I lost last time out to Ancliff but I was weakened by trying to come in at featherweight. This time I’ll be strong at lightweight.”

Morrison confirmed: “I intend to put Hastie versus Ancliff on for the Scottish lightweight title in Glasgow but I’m also thinking of putting on a show at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange in December. If I do, then I’ll switch Hastie v Ancliff to that venue.’’

Meanwhile, Alex Arthur has called off his boxing promotion at Meadowbank on December 17. Arthur, who planned a follow-up to his maiden show held in August, revealed: “With the present economic climate, I think many boxing fans will be keeping their money for Christmas. However, we at Triple A Promotions defnitely plan something much bigger at Meadowbank in March.”
