Edinburgh featherweight Stephen Tiffney is back with a vengeance following a first-round stoppage of Nicaraguan Johnson Tellez.
The 29-year-old made short work of his opponent at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Friday night, producing a devastating body shot that left the Central American unable to pull himself up from the canvas.
Tiffney was making his returning to the ring following an eight-month absence that saw him lose his first professional contest to Capital rival Lewis Paulin in December.
“Although it didn’t last long it was just good to be out there again,” Tiffney said. “I work hard in the gym all the time. The power has always been there but I just caught him with a good shot. I knew I had hurt him. MTK are happy to push me and I’m happy to be pushed. I’m ready to fight any of these guys (in the division). I’ve slipped away a bit from the top ten but I know MTK can get me these titles that I am after. I’ve done a couple of ten rounders last year so that’s what I am after. I’m ready for the big fights.”
