He then made a break of 256 in defeating Brian Harvey to reach the quarter-finals before making breaks of 198, 156, 128, 62, 308 and 259 in his demolition of Peter Shelley. Causier then defeated defending champion Peter Gilchrist (Singapore) 624-472 in a terrific encounter with both players making three century breaks apiece.

In the final, Causier made runs of 100, 73, 163 and 61 in a comfortable 615-343 victory to lift the title and the Hugh Elden trophy.
