Curling: Another low for Burton

Tranent’s Euan Burton failed to salvage a dismal 2011 after another disappointing result at the Tokyo Grand Slam.

The former world 81kg bronze medallist made an early exit at this year’s World and European Championships, and he was unable to go beyond the last 16 in Japan. Following a bye in round one, Burton beat Fiji’s Josateki Naulu before bowing out to Italy’s Francesco Bruyere.

His Edinburgh club-mate Sarah Adlington lost her opening 78kg bout to Korea’s Ji-Youn Kim.
