Curling: Campbell falls short

Edinburgh curler Colin Campbell fell at the final hurdle at the Scottish Mixed Championships in Aberdeen.

Campbell, Michelle Silvera, Lynn Cameron and skip Duncan Fernie won all four of their Group A matches before beating Sandy Stevenson 8-4 and Hammy McMillan 6-5 to reach the final. But there they met the high-powered combination of former world champions Ewan MacDonald and Euan Byers and reigning European champion Eve Muirhead who won 5-2.

MacDonald’s all-star team also beat Scottish Schools champion Bruce Mouat and Murrayfield’s John Hamilton.
