Curling: Campbell on song in Perth

Capital curler Colin Campbell is through to the weekend’s knockout stages after skip David Edwards and his team maintained their perfect 100 per cent record at the Scottish Championships in Perth last night.

Victories yesterday over Forfar’s Murray Young (6-4) and Stirling’s Logan Gray (8-2) gave them seven round-robin wins out of seven and edged them closer to the title and the right to represent Scotland at next month’s World Championships in Switzerland.

Edinburgh’s Ross Hepburn could yet join Campbell in the play-offs despite last night’s 7-5 defeat to David Murdoch, while city student Colin Dick kept his slim hopes alive after coming from two stones down to pip Ewan MacDonald, 5-4.

But Murrayfield’s John Hamilton is out following two more losses yesterday, as are Kerry Barr, Gina Aitken and junior Jennifer Dodds in the ladies competition.
