Curling: Mouat and Howden are out of luck

Edinburgh curlers Bruce Mouat and Colin Howden were both thwarted by the luck of the draw as they lost to the
two eventual finalists in
yesterday’s Scottish Mixed Championship quarter-finals at Curl Aberdeen.

Mouat’s rink was beaten 7-3 by a high-powered quartet which included newly-crowned
world champions Eve Muirhead plus Karen Barthelemy and ex-world champions
Ewan MacDonald and Euan Byers.

Howden went down 7-2 to Stewarton skip David Mundell who later lost the final to
Muirhead’s team as the
2012 champions retained
their mixed title with a 7-3
victory.
