Cycling: Wash-out for opening night

Last night’s opening round of the Meadowbank National Track League suffered an all too familiar fate when a downpour put paid to the night’s programme of events.

It was a particularly disappointing first night for the East of Scotland Track Promoters’ Association, which has assumed responsibility for operating the London Road velodrome in place of Edinburgh Leisure. The new management organisation hopes to encourage greater use of the facility in the coming months, with plans for a full racing programme over the summer, and an opportunity for novices to sample riding on the track.
