Edinburgh Accies snap up hot prospect prop Allan

Edinburgh Accies have swooped to capture one of Scotland’s up-and-coming rugby stars.

Exiles prop forward Alex Allan is currently with the Scotland age-group side competing in his second successive Under-20 World Cup, which has contributed to his 14 caps at this level.

Accies coach Simon Cross, currently assisting Scotland at the tournament in South Africa, is delighted with the acquisition of a player who is moving north from Loughborough University out of which he gained experience coming off the bench for Sale Sharks against Saracens in an English LV Cup tie last season.

Cross, aware that Allan will be looking to use the new, intensive, ten-team Premiership to showcase his talents for a pro contract, said: “Alex will offer fantastic mobility and ball handling skills which are guaranteed to make him well suited to Accies’ style.”

The move comes just as Ayr are claim to have signed Scotland Under-20 utility back Finn Russell, from Falkirk, to play stand off next season.
