Bo’ness wary of Camelon’s true grit

United will be led by caretaker boss Alan McGonigal, who is well aware of what this encounter entails having played for both sides.

He said: “Camelon are a difficult side to take points from. Every time they send a team out they fight for the club tooth and nail. That makes them a hard side to match.

“They have players like Brian Bell and Stuart Cringean, who are real leaders on the park.”

McGonigal, a youth coach at Hamilton Accies, has steadied the ship at Bo’ness following the sacking of Paul Ronald. He added: “Our squad, I feel, is a bit light in numbers and that’s why I’m trying to get some players either on loan from  senior clubs or from clubs around us.

“We have a bit to go, but we’re improving. The good news is that Ryan Kennedy and Johnny Harvey are now back in training, although it’ll be a few weeks yet before they are ready.

“I’m happy to take the team just now as we’re in no rush to appoint a new manager.

“I’ve told Hamilton I’ll be back when the job here is done and they are happy with that. Some of the Bo’ness committee are on holiday so we will probably sit down when everyone is available and talk it through.

“There have been people  applying for the job, but we will take our time.”

Meanwhile, Linlithgow will look to continue their great start to the season with another win over Hill Of Beath.

Newly-promoted Broxburn are at home to Fife side St  Andrews.
