Bonnyrigg keep championship dream alive

St Andrews United 0Bonnyrigg Rose 2

Bonnyrigg overcame a potentially dangerous fixture with a competent performance.

United seldom posed a threat and the nearest to a goal coming in the first half was when home keeper Scott Bennett tipped over Liam McKenna’s shot. The Rose got their reward in 56 minutes when Sean Brady was pulled down in the area by Allan Ramsay who saw red for a last-man challenge. Kevin McLeish converted the spot kick.

Rose continued to press but St Andrews held on with Bennett making a fine save from Stevie Thomson. Sean Grady then lost control when clean through but, with four minutes left, he made amends when he walked round the keeper and placed the ball home for the clincher. Alan Rattray became the second home player to see red for dissent just before the end.
