Keiran McGachie’s second-half strike was enough to lift Rose up to second in the table and three points behind league leaders Kelty Hearts.

Rose had dominated the opening period but could not find their killer touch which had served them so well in recent matches as they went in search of the opener.

McGachie pounced on 48 minutes when visiting keeper David Kane didn’t get enough purchase to fully clear his punched clearance, with the big striker returning the ball instantly into the top corner with a sweet volley.

The New Dundas Park men had further opportunities to double their advantage but didn’t take them and in the end held on for a solitary-goal triumph.

Robbie Horn’s men now turn their attention to Saturday’s trip to promoted Lochee United as they aim to keep the pressure on Kelty at the top of the table.
