Brondby boss: No way we'll play for a no-scoring draw

Brondby boss Alexander Zorniger knows a no-scoring draw tonight will be enough to knock Hibs out of the Europa League '“ but he insisted his side will be going for goals.

The Danes have scored 15 times in four matches, following up their 1-0 victory in Edinburgh seven days ago by opening their domestic season with a 4-0 win over Esbjerg with Kamil Wilczek, who claimed the winner at Easter Road, netting for the fifth game in a row.

And that, insisted Zorniger, has sent his players’ confidence sky high although the German coach was adamant he’s equally happy to have seen them keep three clean sheets in succession.

However, he refused to write off Hibs’ chances having admitted they were unlucky not to have drawn the first leg of their second qualifying round tie, promising “an interesting evening ahead”.

He said: “We’ve had three clean sheets in a row and that’s more important to me. The best thing would be to get another one but we won’t be playing for 0-0. This team can’t do that.

“We expect to play the same way we have for the last few weeks because right now we are playing at a good level.”

Zorniger made four changes from the side which narrowly defeated Hibs for last Sunday’s Superliga opener and he highlighted the strength in depth in his squad by pointing out that he has yet to name the same starting line-up. He said: “I’m happy that we don’t just have eleven strong players. It will be the second consecutive week when we’ve had three games in a week and I’m happy that I can change it and we can still have the same quality from the players.”

Zorniger added to his squad by signing Hany Mukhtar on a season-ong loan from Benfica but the German-born midfielder didn’t arrive in time to be registered with UEFA for tonight’s match.
