Hooper aims to close gap on Rangers

CELTIC moved to within seven points of leaders Rangers in the SPL last night following a 2-1 home win over Dunfermline.

Gary Hooper put the hosts ahead on six minutes and just seven minutes later, James Forrest added a second. Ki Sung-Yeung then missed a second-half penalty before Andy Barrowman ensured a nervy finish four minutes from the end with a late goal for Dunfermline, who remain third bottom.

Afterwards, Hooper’s focus was on the possibility of closing the gap to four points against St Mirren before Rangers travel to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

“We have won four games in a row now,” said the former Scunthorpe striker.

“We need to get the fifth on Saturday. No matter how we do it, we have to win every game.”
