Walker hails Lennon grit Heading

Former Celtic striker Andy Walker feels the battling qualities Neil Lennon showed as a player have helped him turn around the club’s season.

Celtic completed an incredible comeback in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title race on Wednesday when a 1-0 Old Firm victory at Parkhead took them two points above Rangers. The Old Firm success was a ninth consecutive SPL victory for Celtic, a run that started at Fir Park on November 6 after Lennon’s job had been cast in doubt when his side briefly fell 15 points behind Rangers.

Walker said: “When you see those pictures of Neil Lennon at Rugby Park, three goals down, well behind in the league at that time, out of Europe, he looks shell-shocked. But to be fair to him he has now shown the qualities that he showed as a player. He has shown great fighting qualities and a never-say-die attitude.”
