Wanyama:Celts can do Italian job

Victor WANYAMA is looking for Celtic to get their first Europa League victory of the season against Udinese at Parkhead tonight.

Despite having lost their Group I opener 2-0 against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital, the Kenya international midfielder, who signed from Beerschot AC in the summer, insists that disappointing result will count for nothing.

“I am confident because of the way we have been working. It is a big test but we have to take three points.”

Manager Neil Lennon has warned his Celtic defence against conceding yet another early goal in Europe. The Hoops found themselves behind in the opening minutes against Sion in Switzerland and against Atletico.

Lennon is aware of the dangers of going behind to a team who are joint top of Serie A, albeit the Italians will be without top striker Antonio Di Natale. “It seems to be a running theme in last few games [losing an early goal],” Lennon said. “Udinese are an excellent team, very well drilled defensively and they have excellent pace on the break. We have worked on a few things so hopefully we can keep the door shut.”
