Coldstream steal a march in First Division

Coldstream 2Leith Athletic 0

Two goals, two red cards and an abundance of missed chances for both sides featured as Coldstream beat Leith Athletic 2-0 to take a valuable three points in the race to reach the Central Taxis Premier Division.

The home side went in front in the 14th minute with Gary Wales the provider as John Crawford got on the end of his cross to power a header into the net from six yards. Leith should have been all square as Chris Barrie’s free-kick was well saved by Walters who, at the resulting corner, tipped a 20-yard Lewis Tracey effort over the bar.

The game erupted into madness in the 70th minute when Leith substitute Lachlan Thom was hauled down inside the box and referee Banks only awarded a free kick on the line, then sent off Thom and Stephen Barrie for dissent.

Despite being down to nine men, the away side still
dominated and had two more chances through Tulloch and Beaton, before Coldstream hit the bar through Wales. Then in the 88th minute the game was put to rest when Wales knocked in from six yards.
