Craigroyston start game of catch-up

after the disappointment of losing the Alex Jack Cup final to Leith Athletic two weeks ago, Craigroyston are setting their sights on winning promotion.

Craigroyston visit Burntisland Shipyard in the Central Taxis First Division tomorrow, and manager Ross McNeil said: “The league has always been our main focus, so we’re aiming to bounce back after our disappointing display in the cup final.”

Craigroyston, because of cup ties and postponements, have played only four league games and currently trail leaders Coldstream by 25 points, albeit with eight games in hand.

“We drew with Coldstream earlier in the season when we could easily have won and our only defeat was a narrow one to Leith Athletic in another game we could have won,” added McNeil. “I am trying to get the players back into thinking of a winning mentality and that should not be difficult because we have some very experienced players at Craigroyston.

“I was gutted for my players after that Alex Jack Cup final but I have told them that there will be other cup competitions and therefore other opportunities. However, it is the league we have to concentrate on and there will be a few teams, including hopefully ourselves, who will be challenging for promotion come the end of the season.

“I am very confident with the players we have that we can start to climb the First Division table, starting tomorrow against Burntisland Shipyard.”

McNeil is likely to introduce two recent signings in the shape of Mark Hendrie and Bryan Wilson, although Paul Lynch is injured and David Jeffrey is suspended
