Swanson struck in the 76th minute at the Falkirk Stadium, adding to a Ryan Porteous equaliser which came in the first half.

Hibs remain top on 53 points, a point ahead of Dundee who had piled pressure on the Hibees by beating Aberdeen 1-0 earlier in the day. The Dons are third and Hearts are fourth but, realistically, the title race is between the top two.

Hibs started well and Bairns keeper Robbie Mutch had to be alert to keep out a header from Porteous. And that save proved vital as the home team scored after seven minutes, Scott Shepherd striking low into the corner of the goal. It took Hibs 22 minutes to hit back as Porteous headed home from a corner.

Swanson, who set up Oli Shaw for his equaliser against Ross County on Saturday, made it 2-1 at a crucial time as he powered a shot home from inside the box.
