Derek Riordan bids to win deal with Brechin


The 32-year-old has been looking for a new club since leaving League 2 side East Fife when they lost out in the play-offs in May. Dods is player/manager of Brechin who faced Falkirk in a closed doors game yesterday at the University of Stirling.
The three-times capped player started his career at Hibs before moving to Celtic in 2006 for a two-year spell that ended when he returned to Edinburgh. Riordan then moved to Chinese side Shaanxi Chanba only to return home after less than a year as he failed to settle.

Hide AdStops at St Johnstone and Bristol Rovers were followed by a brief appearance at Alloa Athletic in 2014 before, ironically, having a trial period with Brechin City at the start of last season that ended when no deal could be agreed.
Riordan then took a break before helping out the Bayview side firstly as a trialist and then signing on for the final three months of the season.
• Annan boss Jim Chapman has told former Stirling Albion manager Greig McDonald that a place in the Galabank squad is open should he want to take it.
McDonald, 33, who was dismissed from his position at Forthbank last October just five months after guiding Stirling to promotion, is looking to return to the game as a player and has been with the Galabank side throughout pre-season.

Hide AdChapman said: “Greig has come in and done well. He wants to be involved in football again as a player and has been pushing himself hard in terms of being fit to play every week.
“He is still working on his fitness and ultimately Greig will decide if he joins us. If he feels he is up to it then I would be delighted to have him as part of the squad.”
