Edinburgh City won't lose focus against East Kilbride

Edinburgh City face an East Kilbride team on a high after this week booking a lucrative William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round home tie with Celtic.

But manager Gary Jardine believes the victory over Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale will have no effect on his own team’s focus in their Football Nation East of Scotland Qualifying Cup third-round encounter at Meadowbank tomorrow.

Kilby’s 2-0 on Wednesday night was rightly celebrated by all at the club, but Jardine is only focussed on continuing the champions’ winning run. “We’re on a high ourselves,” he said, “We’ve played really well since the turn of the year and these games against the top teams are the ones we look forward to. Wednesday’s result won’t have any bearing on tomorrow in terms of how we go into it.

“In every game with EK there’s been nothing in it; we’ve managed to get a goal and defend really well. However, they’re a quality side and we’ve been fortunate in some games to pick up the points.”

Jardine revealed striker Ouzy See could be out for up to a year after tearing his cruciate ligament.

Elsewhere, Preston Athletic are at BSC Glasgow in the league while Whitehill Welfare head to Duns in the South Challenge Cup.
