Selkirk responded well and after good build-up play a shot from 25 yards by Ross King dipped over Callum Davison on 16 minutes for 2-1. Although there were further opportunities for both sides the interval came without further goals.

Edinburgh continued to create chances but Jamie Newman made several fine saves and his back four defended well. Substitute Bayan Fenwick added pace to the Selkirk attack and Garry O’Connor was a threat with his deft touches and at set-pieces. Just when it looked as though there would be no further scoring O’Connor fired home an equaliser from ten yards on 85 minutes after Edinburgh had failed to clear a corner. On 88 minutes a long throw from Evans eluded keeper Newman and Patterson eased the ball home at the far post.
