EoS: Ormiston need points but are wary of new-look Burntisland

Ormiston manager Richie Weir has warned his players there is no room for complacency when bottom club Burntisland Shipyard visit East Lothian tomorrow.

Weir’s men tore the Fifers apart 6-0 five weeks ago but Burntisland have recently appointed a new management team in Craig Cowan and Raymond Drury following Craig Winter’s decision to step down last month.

Both teams were left idle last weekend following the poor weather but Burntisland head into tomorrow’s encounter buoyed by the fact they picked up their first point of the campaign in a 2-2 draw with Coldsteam a fortnight ago.

“It’s certainly not going to be as easy a game that’s for sure so I’ve told the lads to get the last match we played against them right out their heads,” Weir said. “They have got a new management team as well as a couple of new players so we’ll need to be at our best. We can’t take anything for granted as we’ve got no right to go on the park and beat any team at this level.

“We have to take all three points given the way some of the other results have been going lately with Tweedmouth drawing with Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale. We’re confident though we can pick up a win tomorrow.

“It’s been work in progress so far this year but I now feel we’re finally getting somewhere as we’ve brought in some new players and that has made a big difference to what we’re now seeing out on the park.”

Elsewhere, Tynecastle travel to Eyemouth United whilst top-of-the-table Heriot-Watt University will look to bounce back from their first league defeat of the season last weekend when Coldstream visit Riccarton.

Meanwhile, Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale are in South Region Challenge Cup third-round action as they entertain Glasgow University at Saughton Enclosure and Leith Athletic will look to finish top of Qualifying Cup Group B with victory over Tweedmouth Rangers in the Borders.
