Harper has answered an SOS from Andy Frame, boss of Lanarkshire side Thorniewood United Juniors, in a bid to boost their bid for promotion from Central Division One.

Frame was a team-mate of Harper’s as a youngster at Easter Road before moving ion to Partick Thistle and now the former Scotland Under-21 star, who once rubbed shoulders with the likes of Paul Merson, Teddy Sheringham and Robert Prosinecki, is looking forward to helping his new club’s young players.

Harper, who has been working as a youth coach with Airdrie and runs his own football school in Stepps, said: “Andy as been on at me to join
Thorniewood for the past four years. He was a team-mate of mine when we both played at Hibs early in our careers.

“I thought I would give him a hand because Thorniewood have a lot of young players. The standard of football is good and I think promotion is a possibility.”
