Fernieside find another gear to defeat North Merchi

Fernieside snatched all three points despite being pegged back twice by opponents North Merchiston Vale to run out 4-2 winners in the LEAFA Premier Division 2 clash at Harrison Park.

Fernieside took the lead after 17 minutes. A corner swung in from the left was met by the towering Neil Ferrier and he glanced his header beyond Merchiston goalkeeper Manuel Delso. Merchiston drew level seven minutes into the second-half when Mark Hogg was upended by Ferrier’s rash tackle and Jamie Knox stepped up to score the resultant penalty. Fernieside then regained their lead when Gordon Wilson
buried a header into the net.

Stephen Notman equalised with a low shot past Scott Walker after being teed up by Christopher Adams. Chris Somerville then made it 3-2 after racing on to a through ball. Graeme Finnen made it 4-2, notching in at the back post.
