Give Czechs Rough time plea

Alan ROUGH has urged Scotland to go for the jugular when the Czech Republic come calling in this weekend’s crucial Euro 2012 qualifier.

National team boss Craig Levein famously opted to play without a recognised striker, while dropping Kenny Miller to the bench, for the last meeting between the two nations in Prague in October last year.

The defensive approach failed to pay off with the Scots slumping to a 1-0 defeat and they know victory at Hampden is vital to have a real shot at securing a play-off spot.

The Czechs head into the match in second place in Group I on nine points, with Scotland trailing with four points but having played a game less.

Former goalkeeper Rough said: “We are proud as a Scottish team that we are organised when it comes to not losing games but we now have to have the ability to break teams down and go forward and win a game. Now we must win and that’s a different footballing mentality.

“If we draw, we are then relying on everyone else.”
