Goalkeeper Jack Hamilton signs new deal with Hearts

Jack Hamilton has extended his Hearts contract by an extra two years to May 2019 after solid recent displays in the Tynecastle first team. The 22-year-old Scotland Under-21 goalkeeper kept a clean sheet against Aberdeen last night and may eventually succeed first-choice Neil Alexander.

Robbie Neilson, the Hearts head coach, sees Hamilton as a potential No.1, although he is likely to be loaned out next season to gain more first-team experience. His previous contract ran until 2017 but he is now committed to the Edinburgh club for a further two years.

“It’s a great bit of business to get Jack signed up for the next few years,” Neilson told the club website. “He’s an extremely talented young goalkeeper, as everyone would’ve seen in the past two games against Ross County and Aberdeen.

“We’ve got high hopes for him and if continues to develop then there’s no reason why he can’t hold on to the goalkeeper’s jersey in the first team for years to come.”
