Gordon eyes return to No.1

Craig GORDON insists there is no reason why he cannot reclaim his Scotland jersey and oust current No. 1 Allan McGregor once he is fully fit again.

Former Hearts keeper Gordon is battling his way back to fitness following knee surgery in April and, although reluctant to set a deadline for his return, he believes he may be available for the double-header against Liechtenstein and Spain in October.

McGregor, from Edinburgh, has made the most of Gordon’s absence by establishing himself. Gordon said: “He has done well. He has played 13 or 14 games now for Scotland. But I’ll get myself back playing and I see no reason why I can’t challenge when I’m back playing.”
