A video taken by a resident in the Capital shows a group of topless fans celebrating on their porch (or a neighbour's rooftop?) in Lothian Road following Thursday night's dramatic win.

One of the fans in the video is playing Flower of Scotland on the bagpipes which is being echoed by residents singing from their windows and balconies lining the street.

David Marshall’s penalty save sent the nation into euphoria as fans, politicians and celebrities alike celebrated Scotland’s first trip to a major tournament in 1998.

As soon as it was a clear win First Minister Nicola Sturgeon took to Twitter to post about the success, which included a video of her celebrating after the defeat of rival politician Jo Swinson at last year’s General Election.

Her post read: “Massive congratulations to Steve Clarke and the team. After 22 years, @ScotlandNT men are off to a major tournament. What a lift for the country. Well done!”

Line of Duty actor and die-hard Scotland fan Martin Compston also shared a passionate video of him celebrating and singing Flower of Scotland, seemingly on set, with a bottle of champagne.
