Haddington and Fauldhouse are well placed to take the next step

WITH one promotion spot up for grabs, the ultra-
competitive South Division hasn’t exactly been a bundle of fun for managers or players in recent seasons. Thanks to
reconstruction, however, that’s up to four this season and the likes of Haddington and
Fauldhouse, the top two right now, would be worthy of a step up next summer.

Stevie McLeish said from the outset when he took over the reins at Haddington that it would probably take him three seasons to get the Hi-Hi exactly where he wanted them.

Thankfully, he has been given that time and, despite a couple of recent hiccups, the East
Lothian club is on course to reap the rewards. The same goes for Fauldhouse, where David Cowan has done a
splendid job since moving
there after cutting his
managerial teeth with Spartans Juniors.

Leading the chase in the bid to hang on to the coattails of the top two are Tranent, who have suffered a fair bit of
turmoil in recent seasons, but deserve credit for being in the mix again. They’ve played more games than the teams
immediately below them.
